BRADENTON, Fla. -- Now that Donald Trump is the inevitable nominee and new head of the Republican Party - a job that comes with the nomination - it has become time to recast the Republican Party in modern terms that fit this nation's tasks as given us in the Preamble to the Constitution:

The New Republican will not be an ideologue who finds his enemies in millions of other Americans; the New Republican will reach out to Americans beyond the boundaries of race, creed, ethnicity and political belief; the New Republican will be a problem-solver, not a problem inventor.

The New Republican will be an American first, not a servant of his party; in any controversy, his or her point of view will reflect their citizenship, not their partisanship; the New Republican will revere honesty and truth over strategy and denial, and will seek greater openness and transparency over secrecy and conspiracy.

The New Republican will promote the general welfare, and will not impede the delivery of services to the poor, the sick, the elderly and the helpless. The New Republican will welcome legal immigrants and seek to build upon the foundation of family strength for which so many immigrants are well-known.

The New Republican will fear no other nation or national leader, and it will never hesitate to defend the helpless and the human detritus of civil and other wars. The New Republican will value America's friendship with Israel on the same level as our relationship with Great Britain, and will defend its sovereignty and survival at any cost.

For the New Republican, no partisan controversy shall ever stand between the national interest and party interest; no issue placed before New Republican lawmakers will be decided solely to advance a partisan interest; no partisan interest will ever supercede national interest.

The interests of multinational corporations, and the survival of the same, shall never supercede the interests of ordinary Americans, nor be allowed by the New Republican to damage their health, safety, economy and general welfare.

The New Republican will unashamedly and especially demonstrate and express support for America's veterans, and shall never allow the services promised to veterans to fall into disrepair, disgrace and disuse. Among all our citizens, the American veteran will be held in the place of highest honor, and be served without reservation or reserve.

The New Republican will thoroughly understand where and how the party has failed in the past to reach the goals it sets for itself, how and why gridlock has occurred in Congress and work tirelessly to end it.

The New Republican will advance the national and party interest not in competition with Democrats but in partnership on behalf of all Americans. The Republican Party will distinguish itself by the brilliance of its ideas and accomplishments, not by martial rhetoric and mere partisan activity.

For the New Republican, the new Republican Party shall define itself as the guardian of public monies, the peacemakers in foreign wars, the respecter of partisan differences and the solution to partisan controversy.

Embracing the spirit of this statement, the New Republican and the Republican Party will reorganize to achieve its ideals, to ensure its longevity and to capture the votes and hearts of the American people.

Adopted this 5th Day of May, in the Year of Our Lord 2016.
